Yesterday I received the call I have been waiting for all summer. I have been offered a position as a 7th grade humanities teacher! I am ecstatic. Honestly, I am shocked I got a teaching job with in my first year in the field. The down side: its only .4 FTE. I am definitely worried about finances and I am going to continue working at Tully’s Coffee to try to avoid massive debt. But, that means no sleep. I am also hoping that I will get to substitute within the school in order to pad the pay check a little bit.

I know I will be teaching Middle Ages for Social Studies, but I don’t think there is any information on what I will be teaching in Language Arts. I am already getting anxious about lesson planning, but I have some ideas in mind for fun activities and warm-ups.

Now the biggest question of all: As a first year teacher, what supplies do I need??
